TORQUING SPHEREs
Follies are unusual things, given over to the quizzical and mannered. Historically found on wealthy landowner estates alongside grottoes, pavilions, and ha-ha's, this Folly is very much public. It breaks the normative association with domes and lateral forces by upending them vertically. The strength of the assembly comes from stressed plywood undulating about in plan. The resulting oculi and openings give views towards Manhattan and the park interior.
Winner of the 2015 Folly competition, held by the Archleague and installed at the Socrates Sculpture Park.
